Drones for Electro Interference (D-EMI)

A new long-term site-specific project sampling EMI

D-EMI is a playful ritual-making. A summoning and exorcising of the electronic noise that surrounds us. Much of this noise, though common, is hidden – such as from computers and mobile telephones. Deeper exploration reveals more mystical noises on the LW radio spectrum too.

D-EMI uses of sensitive instruments and DIY receivers, tape loops and hardware drones.

As D-EMI is developed across different across different locations the power of the ritual will grow. A limited run of cassettes will be released after this performance; The composition will be developed at a CAMP France (campfr.com) residential music course in the Pyrenees, mastered with the guidance of none other than Rashad Becker!

After a period of R&D, the first date for a live performance of D-EMI had been announced for 26th September 2018. 1830 – 2100 @ The Neon Workshop, Wakefield. Free, no booking required. This performance of Wakefield Artwalk is site-specific and will take advantage of the unique soundscape of the Neon Workshops, owing to the nature of the neon lighting and the very high voltages required to ‘bombard’ the neon. This performance is part of the Wakefield Artwa;k program taking place across Wakefield on this day.
